Ukraine Mine Action Conference (UMAC) 2025 (Closing Session of the First Day) (Summary)

On October 22, commencing at 4:10 PM for approximately 20 minutes, the closing session of the first day of the Ukraine Mine Action Conference (UMAC) 2025 was held and an outcome document was issued. The overview is as follows:
- At the outset, the Japanese side expressed its pleasure that the outcome document, prepared based on the discussions, was announced with the support of many participating countries. The Japanese side further stated that a shared understanding and direction regarding future mine action in Ukraine was reaffirmed through the discussion on the three pillars of this conference's theme, "Acceleration toward Recovery"; (1) People, (2) Technology, and (3) Nexus. He also reiterated the importance of close collaboration among experts, private companies, and other stakeholders to address the challenges.
- It was also announced that the host of the next Ukraine Mine Action Conference (UMAC), to be held in 2026, will be transferred to the European Union.
